“The
realization that I had experienced something spiritual was in itself a
spiritual experience, and I am only slowly understanding its implications.
What happened in the past, without my knowledge, is probably continuing now.
And in the future, when tomorrow becomes today, it can go on and on. All that
is required is a desire to stop drinking, and to stay stopped.” York,
Pennsylvania, January 1977 "A
lack of transparency results in
distrust and a deep sense of insecurity." -Dalai
Lama "Pain
is inevitable, suffering
is not." -Bhante
Henepola Gunaratana “Facing
ourselves ... is often more difficult than being
honest with another person.” Manhattan,
NY, December 1980 |

entered the world of the Spirit. Our next function is to grow in

Daily Thought
(\

\(AA)/ ) (_ /AA\ _) / AA \ ^*^*^*^*^ Control "Most of us
have been unwilling to admit we were real alcoholics. No person likes to
think he is bodily and mentally different from his fellows. Therefore, it is
not surprising that our drinking careers have been characterized by countless
vain attempts to prove we could drink like other people. The idea that
somehow, someday he will control and enjoy his drinking is the great
obsession of every abnormal drinker. The persistence of this illusion is
astonishing. Many pursue it into the gates of insanity or death."

Daily Reflection . A PRAYER FOR ALL SEASONS God grant us the serenity to accept the things we cannot change, Courage to change the things we can. And wisdom to know the difference. TWELVE STEPS AND TWELVE TRADITIONS, p. 125 The power of this prayer is overwhelming in that its simple beauty parallels the A.A. Fellowship. There are times when I get stuck while reciting it, but if I examine the section which is troubling me, I find the answer to my problem. The first time this happened I was scared, but now I use it as a valuable tool. By accepting life as it is, I gain serenity. By taking action, I gain courage and I thank God for the ability to distinguish between those situations I can work on, and those I must turn over. All that I have now is a gift from God: my life, my usefulness, my contentment, and this program. The serenity enables me to continue walking forward. Alcoholics Anonymous is the easier, softer way. |

Father Leo’s Daily Meditation TEACHING “I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I
understand.” —Chinese Proverb I suppose the best way to learn a thing is to do it, practice
it, demonstrate it, make it real in our lives. Spirituality needs to be
experienced, not talked about. You cannot learn spirituality, get spirituality from a famous
guru, read and acquire spirituality from a book—spirituality needs to be
discovered in our lives. It needs to be found in body, sexuality, sweat,
anger, morning exercise and kneeling in prayer and gratitude at the end of
the day. God, may You be real in my life.
