"Does your train of thought have a caboose?"
~Anonymous
The world is so unpredictable. Things happen suddenly,
unexpectedly.
We want to feel we are in control of our own existence.
In some ways we are and in some ways we're not.
We are ruled by the forces of chance and coincidence.
~ Paul Auster
There are really only 2 choices: worry or trust God.
--unknown
Realize that true happiness lies within you.
Waste no time
and effort searching for peace
and contentment and joy in the world outside.
Remember that there is no happiness in having or in
getting,
but only in giving.
Reach out. Share. Smile. Hug.
Happiness is a perfume you
cannot pour on others
without getting a few drops on yourself.
--Og Mandino

concern of ours what religious bodies our members
identify themselves with as individuals. This should be an entirely personal affair which each one decides for himself in the light of past associations, or his present choice." Alcoholics Anonymous, 4th Edition, There Is A Solution, pg. 2 |

Step Six - "Were entirely ready to have God remove all
these defects of character."
"This is the Step that separates the men from the boys." So declares a well-loved clergyman who happens to be one of A.A.'s greatest friends. He goes on to explain that any person capable of enough willingness and honesty to try repeatedly Step Six on all his faults--without any reservations whatever--has indeed come a long way spiritually, and is therefore entitled to be called a man who is sincerely trying to grow in the image and likeness of his own Creator. p. 63 |

Twenty-Four Hours
A.A. Thought For The
Day
In the past, we kept right on drinking in spite of all the trouble we got into. We were foolish enough to believe that drinking could still be fun in spite of everything that happened to us. When we came into A.A., we found a lot of people who, like ourselves, had had fun with drinking, but who now admitted that liquor had become nothing but trouble for them. And when we found that this thing had happened to a lot of other people besides ourselves, we realized that perhaps we weren't such odd ducks after all. Have I learned to admit that for me drinking has ceased to be fun and has become nothing but trouble? Meditation For The Day The lifeline, the line of rescue, is the line from the soul to God. On one end of the lifeline is our faith and on the other end is God's power. It can be a strong line and no soul can be overwhelmed who is linked to God by it. I will trust in this lifeline and never be afraid. God will save me from doing wrong and from the cares and troubles of life. I will look to God for help and trust Him for aid when I am emotionally upset. Prayer For The Day I pray that no lack of trust or fearfulness will make me disloyal to God. I pray that I may keep a strong hold on the lifeline of faith. |

Vigilance
Deliver us from temptation must continue to be a prime ingredient of our every attitude, practice, and prayer. When things go well, we must never fall into the error of believing that no great ill can possibly befall us. Nor should we accuse ourselves of "negative thinking" when we insist on facing the destructive forces in and around us, both realistically and effectively. Vigilance will always be the price of survival. Bill W., November 1960 c. 1988 AA Grapevine, The Language of the Heart, pp. 316-17 Thought to Consider . . . Daily Reflection
GETTING THE
"SPIRITUAL ANGLE"
How often do we sit
in AA meetings and hear the speaker
declare, "But I
haven't yet got the spiritual angle." Prior to
this statement, he
had described a miracle of
transformation which
had occurred in him—not only his
release from
alcohol, but a complete change in his whole
attitude toward life
and the living of it It is apparent to
nearly everyone else
present that he has received a great
gift; " . . .
except that he doesn't seem to know it yet!"
We well know that
this questioning individual will tell us six
months or a year
hence that he has found faith in God.
LANGUAGE OF THE
HEART, p. 275
A spiritual
experience can be the realization that a life
which once seemed
empty and devoid of meaning is now
joyous and full. In
my life today, daily prayer and
meditation, coupled
with living the Twelve Steps, has
brought about an
inner peace and feeling of belonging
which was missing
when I was drinking.

Pot Luck
Outlook of
Two AA Members
Don D. went to an AA meeting one evening. He
frowned when a member mispronounced a few words while reading ”How it Works”.
He felt appalled when another member stood up and said w\he was an alcoholic
and an addict. Another person talked too long. As he slipped out the door
directly after the meeting he muttered to himself, “That was terrible. I
should have stayed home.”
Bob
M. went to an AA meeting one evening. His head was bowed as he listened to
the “Preamble”. His eyes moistened as he listened intently to a member tell
his story. He was grateful for being able to attend this meeting. After
clean-up and a little socializing, he paused and as he locked the meeting
room door his thoughts were, “Thank God for such a beautiful fellowship.”
Both
AA members were at the same meeting. Each found what they were looking for.
