“As I continue to see the inherent worth and dignity in every
human being, I will continue to live on a more level playing field with
everybody.” ~Shreveport, La., August 2012 One of the noblest words in our language is "grace,"
defined as "unearned blessing." We live by grace far more than by anything else. Accordingly, I find
that the one thing which I want to put into practice in my own life is the conscious and deliberate habit of finding someone to thank. -Elton Trueblood Grace is goodness and respect given freely and
unconditionally. A sense of divine love and protection bestowed on us when we need strength and renewal. Grace helps us know we are not alone and believe we are cared for and cherished. Grace is a drink of clear, clean water in the
desert. -Sue Patton Thoele To wake at dawn with a winged heart and give thanks for another day of loving” ~Kahil Gibran |

BIG BOOK QUOTE I was to test my
thinking by the new God-consciousness within. Common sense would thus become
uncommon sense. P13 |

may not be so perfect after all. ALCOHOLICS
ANONYMOUS, p. 129 I can
be doing great in the program—applying it at meetings,
at work, and in service activities—and find that things
have gone to pieces at home. I expect my loved ones to
understand, but they cannot. I expect them to see and value
my progress, but they don't—unless I show them. Do I
neglect their needs and desires for my attention and concern?
When I'm around them, am I irritable or boring? Are my
"amends" a mumbled "Sorry," or do they take the form of
patience and tolerance? Do I preach to them, trying to
reform or "fix" them? Have I ever really cleaned house with them!
"The spiritual life is not a theory. We have to live
it" (Alcoholics Anonymous, p. 83). |

POT LUCK Reflection
For The Day The
Program’s Twelve Steps comprise a body of living spiritual wisdom. To the degree that we continue to study The
Steps and apply them to our daily lives, our knowledge and understanding
expands without limitation. As we say
in The Program, “It gets better … and better … and better.” The Eleventh Step speaks of prayer and
meditation, urging us to apply our minds quietly to the contemplation of
spiritual truth. By
its nature, the Eleventh Step illuminates for us the purpose and value of the
other Steps. As we seek through prayer
and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God, the remaining Steps
become ever more useful in our new way of life. Do I take the time each day for prayer and
meditation? Today
I Pray May I
seek—as the Eleventh Step says—to know God better through prayer and
meditation, talking to and listening for God.
As my life becomes more full of the realities of Earth—may I always
keep aside a time for communion with God.
May this communion define my life and give it purpose. Today
I Will Remember Take
time out for God. |
