People who fight fire with fire usually end up with ashes. -Abigail Van Buren The potential of the average person is like a huge ocean
unsailed, a new continent unexplored, a world of possibilities waiting to be released and channeled toward some great good. “Guard well your spare moments. They are like uncut diamonds. Discard them and their value will never be known. Improve them and they will become the brightest gems in a useful life.” ― Ralph Waldo Emerson Always follow these two rules: first, act only on what
your reasoning mind proposes for the good of humanity, and second, change your opinion if someone shows you it’s
wrong. This change of mind must proceed only from the conviction that it’s both correct and for the common good, but not because it will give you pleasure and make you
popular. -Marcus Aurelius |

DAILY
REFLECTIONS LIGHTING
THE DARK PAST Cling to
the thought that, in God's hands, the dark past is the
greatest possession you have—the key to life and happiness
for others. With it you can avert death and misery for
them. ALCOHOLICS
ANONYMOUS, p. 124 No longer is
my past an autobiography; it is a reference book to be
taken down, opened and shared. Today as I report for
duty, the most wonderful picture comes through. For, though
this day be dark— as some days must be—the stars will
shine even brighter later. My witness that they do shine will be
called for in the very near future. All my past will this day
be a part of me, because it is the key, not the lock. |

POT LUCK I never lose sight
of the fact that just being is fun.
~Katharine Hepburn The
first good news each day is that we wake up. We are breathing. Our hearts are
beating, our minds working. The adventure of living begins. What does the day
hold in store? We have no way of knowing what surprises lie in wait for us
today. We
may look forward, not just to the expected, but to the unexpected. Whom shall
we meet? What will we see? What will we learn? How will we be entertained?
What chances to help others will come our way? What chances to love and be
loved? Now
that our eyes are opened to today's beauty, let us remain alert for new
sights. Let us cry when sad, smile when touched, and laugh at what is funny
in a whole new lifetime before us. What
can I be thankful for today? Today's Gift: Daily Meditations for Families* |
