To love another person is to see the face of God. "The older I grow, the more I listen to people who don't talk much." ~Germaine Glidden See each morning a world made anew, as if it were the morning of the very first day; treasure and use it, as if it were the final hour of the very last day. “Life hasn’t been all smooth sailing, but because of AA, I no longer have to live in fear. I sleep at night ... I have a purpose in life. ~ Mankato, Minnesota, May 1997 |

BIG
BOOK QUOTE These men had found something brand new in life. Though they
knew they must help other alcoholics if they would remain sober, that motive
became secondary. It was transcended by the happiness they found in giving
themselves for others. P159 |

Daily Thought ^*^*^*^*^ (\ ~~ /) ( \(AA)/ ) (_ /AA\ _) / AA \ ^*^*^*^*^ Sponsors Every sponsor is necessarily a
leader. The stakes are huge. A human life, and usually the happiness of a
whole family, hangs in the balance. What the sponsor does and says, how well
he estimates the reactions of his prospects, how well he times and makes his
presentation, how well he handles criticisms, and how well he leads his
prospect on by personal spiritual example . . . well, these attributes of
leadership can make all the difference, often the difference between life and
death. Thank God that Alcoholics Anonymous is blessed with so much leadership
in each and all of its great affairs! Bill W., April 1959 c. 1988 AA Grapevine, The Language of the Heart, p.
292 Thought to Consider . . . Sponsors are not mentioned
in the first 164 pages of the 4th Edition of the Big Book but are found
68 times in the 42 stories. *~*AACRONYMS*~* D U E

DAILY
REFLECTIONS GROWING UP The
essence of all growth is a willingness to change for the better and
then an unremitting willingness to shoulder whatever
responsibility this entails. AS BILL SEES
IT, p. 115 Sometimes
when I've become willing to do what I should have been
doing all along, I want praise and recognition. I don't realize
that the more I'm willing to act differently, the more exciting
my life is. The more I am willing to help others, the
more rewards I receive. That's what practicing the
principles means to me. Fun and benefits for me are in the
willingness to do the actions, not to get immediate results.
Being a little kinder, a little slower to anger, a little more loving
makes my life better— day by day. |

POT LUCK Gracious
and Loving Father, I come before You today seeking
refuge from the weight of insecurity and the constant
need for approval. I
renounce the spirit of inferiority. Lord, deliver me from the
complex that makes me feel incapable or less than others.
Remind me that I am fearfully and wonderfully made
in Your image. When I look in the mirror, help me to see
Your masterpiece instead of my own perceived flaws. I
release my hypersensitivity to the words of others. I ask for
the strength to stabilize my emotions and bring them under
Your peace. Quiet the voices—both internal and external—that
tell me I am not enough. Help me to be ‘slow to
take offense’ and to find my stability in Your unshakeable promises
rather than the shaky opinions of the world. I
surrender my need for human approval. I pray that I would
find my identity in You. I surrender my need for human
approval. I pray that I would find my identity in You
alone. May Your love cast out every shadow of doubt, and
clothe me with strength and dignity. Teach me that my worth
is not found in my successes, my education, or the number
of people who like me, but in the fact that You have chosen
and redeemed me. Free
me from the prison of self-consciousness. Give me the
courage to walk in the fullness of who You created me to be,
free from fear and embraced by Your unfailing grace. |
