God built and blessed us with natural appetites and
longings. In a broken world, he also knows better than we do that we all carry personal wounds. He knows how easily, particularly on low days, anyone can take a shortcut to a good feeling. When he commanded us not to steal, or lie, or commit adultery,
he was saying: don't do
those things to yourself. Because God loves us so thoroughly, I am certain that
"don't" can be a most positive word. -Mark DeMoss “Let today's troubles be sufficient to today.” “Distilled Spirits,” Indianapolis, Indiana, August 1982, AA
Grapevine Invest in the “process” rather than the product. Process living neutralizes the depleting and impoverishing
effects of chronically living in anticipation. Even when impossible
goals occasionally are reached, satisfactions derived from them are invariably disappointing unless the process has
given ample satisfaction along the way. -Theodore Rubin "I only need one meeting a week, but I don't know which day, so I go everyday." ~ Walter M. Dothan, AL |

BIG
BOOK QUOTE We have no desire to convince anyone that there is only one
way by which faith can be acquired. If what we have learned and felt and seen
means anything at all, it means that all of us, whatever our race, creed, or
color are the children of a living Creator with whom we may form a
relationship upon simple and understandable terms as soon as we are willing
and honest enough to try. P28 |

DAILY
REFLECTIONS AN INSIDE
LOOK We want to
find exactly how, when, and where our natural desires
have warped us We wish to look squarely at the unhappiness
this has caused others and ourselves By discovering
what our emotional deformities are, we can move
toward their correction. TWELVE STEPS
AND TWELVE TRADITIONS, p. 43 Today I am no
longer a slave to alcohol, yet in so many ways
enslavement still threatens—my self, my desires, even my
dreams. Yet without dreams I cannot exist; without
dreams there is nothing to keep me moving forward. I must look
inside myself, to free myself. I must call upon God's
power to face the person I've feared the most, the true me,
the person God created me to be. Unless I can or until I
do, I will always be running, and never be truly free. I ask
God daily to show me such a freedom! |

POT LUCK "You’ll
never have it all together. That’s like eating once and for all." I’ve wasted a lot of time and
energy waiting for everything to be just right, but it’s never turned out
that way. I felt if only I could get that perfect job and make a certain
amount of money, then I’d finally stop worrying. I did get the job, and I made
even more money, yet I still had financial insecurity. I hoped that when I
met the right woman, then I’d be complete. Turned out that was a complete
mess. Finally, I knew that if I could only control and enjoy my drinking,
then everything would be okay. Instead, I ended up in A.A.
