"In the recovery world, it's a higher power that helps
you. You have to turn your life over to something greater. Anytime I tried to control my life, I had screwed it up." ~Chris Mullin “As long as I am acting in a loving and caring manner, I am not responsible for how others react. This frees me from pleasing people at my own emotional
expense.” ~Temple, Texas, March 1983 “To be grateful is to recognize the Love of God in everything He has given us - and He has given us everything. Every breath we draw is a gift of His love, every moment of existence is a grace, for it brings with it immense graces from Him. is never unresponsive, is constantly awakening to new wonder and to praise of the goodness of God. For the grateful person knows that God is good, not by hearsay but by experience. And that is what makes all the difference.” -
Thomas Merton Without Divine intervention I will always wind up believing
that how I feel is the most important thing in the Universe. ~Don M. (Woodstock 2017) |

Big Book
Quote If
a mere code of morals or a better philosophy of life were
sufficient to overcome alcoholism, many
of us would have recovered long ago. P44,45 |

DAILY
REFLECTIONS TOTAL
ACCEPTANCE He
cannot picture life without alcohol Some day he will be unable
to imagine life either with alcohol or without it. Then
he will know loneliness such as few do. He will be at the
jumping-off place. He will wish for the end. ALCOHOLICS
ANONYMOUS, p. 152 Only
an alcoholic can understand the exact meaning of a statement
like this one. The double standard that held me captive
as an active alcoholic also filled me with terror and confusion:
"If I don't get a drink I'm going to die," competed
with "If I continue drinking it's going to kill me." Both
compulsive thoughts pushed me ever closer to the bottom.
That bottom produced a total acceptance of my alcoholism— with
no reservations whatsoever—and one that was
absolutely essential for my recovery. It was a dilemma unlike
anything I had ever faced, but as I found out later on, a
necessary one if I was to succeed in this program. |

POT LUCK Let Go, Let God I let go, let God, and welcome the new year. As I look back upon this year, I may be visited by all kinds of
memories, pleasant ones and others I might want to forget. Letting go means eliminating all that no longer serves me, forgiving
others or myself for things said or done. Releasing feelings of guilt or
resentment over a past that cannot be changed frees me to welcome a future of
opportunity and delight. Letting God means I will not limit my future by holding rigid ideas
of how it should unfold. I will dream big and set goals for the coming year,
welcoming God's grace in ways that may surpass what I can imagine. I say goodbye to the old year with a fresh, unburdened mind and
heart. I let go and let God as I welcome the new year. |
