Heard at a meeting this am .

“ the suggestions from your sponsor are free.

The ones you pay for are the ones you don’t listen too”.

~Bill H. Wells, ME

Realize that your suffering has meaning and purpose.

It has made you more compassionate to others' suffering.

You can now use your pain to help others overcome suffering.
~Susan Santucci

The pain and suffering that comes to us

has a purpose in our lives-i

t is trying to teach us something.

We should look for its lesson.

~Peace Pilgrim

Life has no other discipline to impose, if we would but realize it,

than to accept life unquestioningly.

Everything we shut our eyes to, everything we run away from,

everything we deny, denigrate, or despise, serves to defeat us in the end.

What seems nasty, painful, evil, can become a source of beauty, joy, and strength, if faced with an open mind.  Every moment is a golden one for those who have the vision to recognize it as such.

-Henry Miller

Big Book Quote

When we sincerely took such a position, all sorts of remarkable things followed.

12&12

Step Eleven - "Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out."

As though lying upon a sunlit beach, let us relax and breathe deeply of the spiritual atmosphere with which the grace of this prayer surrounds us. Let us become willing to partake and be strengthened and lifted up by the sheer spiritual power, beauty, and love of which these magnificent words are the carriers. Let us look now upon the sea and ponder what its mystery is; and let us lift our eyes to the far horizon, beyond which we shall seek all those wonders still unseen.

Twenty-Four Hours

A.A. Thought For The Day

A.A. work is one hundred percent voluntary. It depends on each
and every one of our members to volunteer to do his or her share.
Newcomers can sit on the sidelines until they have got over their
nervousness and confusion. They have a right to be helped by all,
until they can stand on their own feet. But the time inevitably
comes when they have to speak up and volunteer to do their share
in meetings and in twelfth step work. Until that time comes, they
are not a vital part of A.A. They are only in the process of being
assimilated. Has my time come to volunteer?

Meditation For The Day

God's kingdom on earth is growing slowly, like a seed in the
ground. In the growth of his kingdom there is always progress
among the few who are out ahead of the crowd. Keep striving for
something better and there can be no stagnation in your life.
Eternal life, abundant life is yours for the seeking. Do not
mis-spend time over past failures. Count the lessons earned
from failures as rungs upon the ladder of progress. Press onward
toward the goal.

Prayer For The Day

I pray that I may be willing to grow. I pray that I may keep
stepping up on the rungs of the ladder of life.

Fellowship

"The fellowship I found in A.A. enabled me to face my problem honestly and squarely. I couldn't do it among my relatives, I couldn't do it among my friends. No one likes to admit they're a drunk, that they can't control this thing. But when we come into A.A., we can face our problem honestly and openly. I went to closed meetings and open meetings. And I took everything that A.A. had to give me. It was at that point I reached surrender."

Alcoholics Anonymous, p. 340

DAILY REFLECTIONS

UNREMITTING INVENTORIES

Continue to watch for selfishness, dishonesty, resentment,

and fear. When these crop up, we ask God at once to

remove them. We discuss them with someone immediately

and make amends quickly if we have harmed anyone. Then

we resolutely turn our thoughts to someone we can help.

ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS, p. 84

The immediate admission of wrong thoughts or actions is a

tough task for most human beings, but for recovering

alcoholics like me it is difficult because of my propensity

toward ego, fear and pride. The freedom the A.A. program

offers me becomes more abundant when, through

unremitting inventories of myself, I admit, acknowledge

and accept responsibility for my wrong-doing. It is possible

then for me to grow into a deeper and better understanding

of humility. My willingness to admit when the fault is mine

facilitates the progression of my growth and helps me to

become more understanding and helpful to others.

Each Day a New Beginning

What difference does it make how I am treated by life? My real life is within.

—Angela L. Wozniak

It is said that we teach people how to treat us. How we treat others invites similar treatment. Our response to the external conditions of our lives can be greatly altered by our perceptions of those conditions.

And we have control of that perception. No experience has to demoralize us.

Each situation can be appreciated for its long-term contribution to our growth as happy, secure women.

No outside circumstances will offer us full time and forever the security we all long for. And in like manner, none will adversely interfere with our well being, except briefly and on occasion.

The program offers us the awareness that our security, happiness, and well being reside within. The uplifting moments of our lives may enhance our security, but they can’t guarantee that it will last. Only the relationship we have with ourselves and God within can promise the gift of security.

The ripples in my day are reminders to me to go within.
