"You never find yourself until you face the truth."
"There is something beautiful about all scars of whatever nature. A scar means the hurt is over, the wound is closed and healed, done with." ~Harry Crews "Balance is not something you find, it's something you create" ~Jana Kingsford “With each passing year we increasingly realize the immense
importance of adequately presenting the program to every new prospect who is
in the least inclined to listen. Many of us feel this to be our greatest
obligation to him and our failure to do so our greatest dereliction. The
difference between a good approach and a bad one can mean life or death to
those who seek our help.” ~ Bill W., May 1947 |
Big Book
Quote As soon as we admitted the possible existence of a Creative
Intelligence, a Spirit of the Universe underlying the totality of things, we
began to be possessed of a new sense of power and direction, provided we took
other simple steps. P46 |

DAILY
REFLECTIONS GIVING IT
AWAY Though
they knew they must help other alcoholics if they would
remain sober, that motive became secondary. It was transcended
by the happiness they found in giving themselves
to others. ALCOHOLICS
ANONYMOUS, p. 159 Those words,
for me, refer to a transference of power, through which
God, as I understand Him, enters my life. Through
prayer and meditation, I open channels, then I establish and
improve my conscious contact with God. Through
action I then receive the power I need to maintain my sobriety
each day. By maintaining my spiritual condition, by
giving away what has been so freely given to me, I am
granted a daily reprieve. |
Pot Luck "I
usually want justice only for myself." When
I was new in the program, I was filled with self-pity and resentful at how
unfair life was. I pointed fingers at all the people, places, and things that
had done me wrong and asked where the justice was. “Why aren’t people making
amends to me?” I asked. “What about all the hard times I have endured through
the years?” I bemoaned to anyone who would listen. “There is no justice in
the world,” I said. “If life were fair, then things would be better.” I truly
believed this.
