Happy New Year!!!

2023

Write it on your heart

that every day is the best day in the year.

~Ralph Waldo Emerson

“This is the new year the new you.

You can pass through another year,

coasting on cruise control.

Or you can step out of your comfort zone,

trying things you have never done before,

& make 2023 the year that you elevate

from where you are & soar high.

Make it happen!”
―
Pablo

Every year you make a resolution to change yourself.

This year, make a resolution to be yourself.

~Unknown

He who breaks a resolution is a weakling;

He who makes one is a fool.

~F. M. Knowles

Any new beginning is forged from the shards of the past,

not from the abandonment of the past.

~Craig D. Loundsbrough

Don’t live the same year 75 times and call it a life.

~Robin Sharma

“I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes.  Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You’re doing things you’ve never done before, and more importantly, you’re Doing Something.  So that’s my wish for you, and all of us, and my wish for myself. Make New Mistakes. Make glorious, amazing mistakes. Make mistakes nobody’s ever made before. Don’t freeze, don’t stop, don’t worry that it isn’t good enough, or it isn’t perfect, whatever it is: art, or love, or work or family or life.  Whatever it is you’re scared of doing, Do it.  Make your mistakes, next year and forever.”

– Neil Gaiman

Big Book Quote

"The very practical approach to his problems, the absence of

intolerance of any kind, the informality, the genuine democracy, the uncanny understanding which these people had were irresistible."

12&12

Tradition Nine - "A.A., as such, ought never be organized; but we may create service boards or committees directly responsible to those they serve."

Just as the aim of each A.A. member is personal sobriety, the aim of our services is to bring sobriety within reach of all who want it. If nobody does the group's chores, if the area's telephone rings unanswered, if we do not reply to our mail, then A.A. as we know it would stop. Our communications lines with those who need our help would be broken.

Twenty-Four Hours

 A.A. Thought For The Day

When I came into A.A., was I a desperate person? Did I have a
soul-sickness? Was I so sick of myself and my way of living that I
couldn't stand looking at myself in a mirror? Was I ready for A.A.?
Was I ready to try anything that would help me to get sober and to get
over my soul-sickness? Should I ever forget the condition I was in?

Meditation For The Day

In the new year, I will live one day at a time. I will make each day one
of preparation for better things ahead. I will not dwell on the past or
the future, only on the present. I will bury every fear of the future, all
thoughts of unkindness and bitterness, all my dislikes, my resentments,
my sense of failure, my disappointments in others and in myself, my
gloom and my despondency. I will leave all these things buried and go
forward, in this new year, into a new life.

Prayer For The Day

I pray that God will guide me one day at a time in the new year. I pray
that for each day, God will supply the wisdom and the strength that I
need.

Meetings

"A 'spiritual experience' to me meant attending meetings, seeing a group of people, all there for the purpose of helping each other; hearing the Twelve Steps and the Twelve Traditions read at a meeting, and hearing the Lord's Prayer, which in an A.A. meeting has such great meaning - 'Thy will be done, not mine.' A spiritual awakening soon came to mean trying each day to be a little more thoughtful, more considerate, a little more courteous to those with whom I came in contact."
c. 1976 AAWS, Alcoholics Anonymous, p. 381

Thought to Consider . . .

Seven days without a meeting makes one weak.

Daily Reflection

"I AM A MIRACLE"

The central fact of our lives today is the absolute certainty

that our Creator has entered into our hearts and lives in a

way which is indeed miraculous. He has commenced to

accomplish those things for us which we could never do by

ourselves.

ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS, p. 25

This truly is a fact in my life today, and a real miracle. I

always believed in God, but could never put that belief

meaningfully into my life. Today, because of Alcoholics

Anonymous, I now trust and rely on God, as I understand

Him; I am sober today because of that! Learning to trust

and rely on God was something I could never have done

alone. I now believe in miracles because I am one!

Pot Luck

"Gratitude is the shortest path between me and God."

I used to take everything in my life for granted. At the height of my “big-shot-ism,” I had a lot of property and a lot of prestige. Rather than appreciating what I had, all I thought about was getting more or better or bigger. What I didn’t know was that I also had alcoholism, and the growing hole I felt inside me would never be filled with any of these outside things. When I hit bottom, I was surrounded by a lot on the outside, but I was empty on the inside.

When I started going to meetings, I heard other people talk about the same hole, and I began to hear about a different way to fill it. It started, they told me, by developing an “attitude of gratitude,” and by taking reliance off of myself and placing it on a God of my own understanding. They told me I already had everything I needed to be happy, joyous, and free. My job was to become “right-sized” by working the Twelve Steps so that I could appreciate all God had done and was doing for me.

As my humility grew, I found I truly had much to be grateful for. To start with, I hadn’t died or destroyed my life through my alcoholism, and I was now sober and on a spiritual path. When I looked at the abundance of everything I already had—a loving family, a wonderful new fellowship of friends, my health, and more—I came to appreciate the real richness of my life. As my gratitude continues to deepen, so does my relationship with God. Today, I have only to think about ten or fifteen things I have that property and prestige can’t fill to realize how blessed I am. Today, I know that gratitude is the shortest path between me and God.
