The lies most devastating
to our self-esteem are not so much the lies we
tell as the lies we live. – ~Nathaniel Branden Life is either always a
tightrope or a feather bed. Give me the tightrope. -Edith Wharton Accept that all of us can
be hurt, that all of us can—and
surely will at times—fail. Other vulnerabilities, like
being embarrassed or risking love, can be terrifying,
too. I think we should follow a
simple rule: if we can take the worst,
take the risk. -Joyce Brothers “I began to find ... a more
centered, purposeful life, at least in the sense that
my body, mind, emotions, and soul
were all more or less heading in the same direction. I
was riding one horse instead of four.” ~Grapevine: La Canada,
California, November 1989 |
Big Book Quote "We found that
God does not make too hard terms with those who seek Him. To us, the Realm of
Spirit is broad, roomy, all inclusive; never exclusive or forbidding to those
who earnestly seek. It is open, we believe, to all men." ~Alcoholics
Anonymous, 4th Edition, We Agnostics, Page 46~ |

12&12 Step Two - "Came to believe that a Power greater than
ourselves could restore us to sanity." |
Twenty-Four Hours A.A. Thought For The
Day |
Daily Thought ^*^*^*^*^ Change How many of us would presume
to declare, "Well, I'm sober, and I'm happy. What more can I want, or
do? I'm fine the way I am." We know that the price of such
self-satisfaction is an inevitable backslide, punctuated at some point by a
very rude awakening. We have to grow or else deteriorate. For us, the status
quo can only be for today, never for tomorrow. Change we must; we cannot
stand still. Bill W., April 1961 *~*AACRONYMS*~* C H A N G E

Daily Reflection GOAL:
SANITY ". . . Step Two
gently and very gradually began to infiltrate my life. I can't say upon
what occasion or upon what day I came to believe in a Power
greater than myself, but I certainly have that belief
now." TWELVE STEPS AND TWELVE
TRADITIONS, p. 27 "Came to
believe!" I gave lip service to my belief when I felt like it or when I
thought it would look good. I didn't really trust God. I didn't
believe He cared for me. I kept trying to change things I
couldn't change. Gradually, in disgust, I began to turn
it all over, saying: "You're so omnipotent, you take care
of it." He did. I began to receive answers to my deepest
problems, sometimes at the most unusual times: driving to
work, eating lunch, or when I was sound asleep. I realized
that I hadn't thought of those solutions—a Power greater
than myself had given them to me. I came to believe. |
