During a meeting one day, I remarked that I was just
tickled to death with this A.A. program - all but the spiritual
side of it. After the meeting, another
member came up to me and said, "I liked that remark
you made - about how you like the
program - all but the spiritual
part of it. We've got a little time. Why don't we talk about the
OTHER side of it?" “Facing ourselves ... is
often more difficult than being honest with
another person.” ~Grapevine: Manhattan, NY,
December 1980 The greatest gift you can
give to another is to allow them to be just
as they are. ~Unknown There is a place that you
are to fill, something you are to do, which no one else can do. |

Big Book Quote "We have no
desire to convince anyone that there is only one way by which faith can be
acquired. If what we have learned and felt and seen means anything at all, it
means that all of us, whatever our race, creed, or color are the children of
a living Creator with whom we may form a relationship upon simple and
understandable terms as soon as we are
willing and honest enough to try." |

Daily Reflection LIVING IT The spiritual life is not a
theory. We have to live it. ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS, p. 83 When new in the program, I
couldn't comprehend living the spiritual aspect of the
program, but now that I'm sober, I can't comprehend living
without it. Spirituality was what I had been seeking. God, as
I understand Him, has given me answers to the whys that
kept me drinking for twenty years. By living a
spiritual life, by asking God for help, I have learned to love, care
for and feel compassion for all my fellow men, and to feel
joy in a world where, before, I felt only fear. |

Pot Luck Father Leo's Daily Meditation SOLITUDE "One
of the greatest necessities in
America is to discover creative
solitude." --
Carl Sandburg I
need to be alone. Being alone is not the same as being lonely. I need
to be alone with me in order to love me, understand me, hear my
needs and plan my day. Also
solitude is a spiritual experience because it enables me to center on
what God is doing and creating in my life. Solitude enables me to
think and cooperate with His will for me in our world. As
an addict I was always running around being "busy". Today I rest within
myself in order to be more active and creative. Let
me be still so that I can enjoy my world. |
