Christmas time is like a
smokey fire that wraps itself around you.
There's warmth in it, a smell to it, a fragrance oh so
subtle.
It weaves a spell of nostalgia with good memories...and
some...not so good.
What will this Christmas day bring for you?
Blessings.
After today, you are all in.
Pause for a moment while anticipation is high,
resolve to keep your spirit strong through joy,
disappointment, triumph, and loss.
God is with you in your reflection.
~Prayables
Anyone who in discussion
relies upon authority
uses not his understanding
but rather his memory.
~ Leonardo da Vinci
"See if you can catch
yourself complaining, in either speech or thought,
about a situation you find
yourself in, what other people do or say,
your surroundings, your life situation, even
the weather.
To complain is always
non-acceptance of what is.
It invariably carries an
unconscious negative charge.
When you complain, you make
yourself into a victim.
When you speak out, you are
in your power.
So change the situation by
taking action
or by speaking out if
necessary or possible;
leave the situation or
accept it.
All else is madness."
~Eckhart Tolle
"In the meetings I
attend,
newcomers sometimes ask me
how I've been able to stay sober so long.
My answer is always the
same: every morning,
the first thing I do is say
three magic words –
God, help me."
~Grapevine: Kissimmee,
Fla., March 2006

Big Book Quote
Next, we decided that
hereafter in this drama of life, God was going
to be our Director. He is the Principal; we are His agents. He is the Father, and we are His children. Most good ideas are simple,
and this concept was
the keystone of the new and triumphant arch
through which we
passed to freedom.

Step Three - "Made a decision to turn our will and our
lives over to the care of God as we understood Him."
Then it is explained that other Steps of the A.A. program can be practiced with success only when Step Three is given a determined and persistent trial. This statement may surprise newcomers who have experienced nothing but constant deflation and a growing conviction that human will is of no value whatever. They have become persuaded, and rightly so, that many problems besides alcohol will not yield to a headlong assault powered by the individual alone. But now it appears that there are certain things which only the individual can do. All by himself, and in the light of his own circumstances, he needs to develop the quality of willingness. When he acquires willingness, he is the only one who can make the decision to exert himself. Trying to do this is an act of his own will. All of the Twelve Steps require sustained and personal exertion to conform to their principles and so, we trust, to God's will. p. 40 |

Twenty-Four Hours
A.A. Thought For The Day
The way of A.A. is the way of faith. We don't get the full benefit of the program until we surrender our lives to some Power greater than ourselves and trust that Power to give us the strength we need. There is no better way for us. We can get sober without it. We can stay sober for some time without it. But if we are going to truly live, we must take the way of faith in God. That is the path for us. We must follow it. Have I taken the way of faith? Meditation For The Day Life is not a search for happiness. Happiness is a by-product of living the right kind of a life, of doing the right thing. Do not search for happiness, search for right living and happiness will be your reward. Life is sometimes a march of duty during dull, dark days. But happiness will come again, as God's smile of recognition of your faithfulness. True happiness is always the by-product of a life well lived. Prayer For The Day I pray that I may not seek happiness but seek to do right. I pray that I may not seek pleasure so much as the things that bring true happiness. |

(\ ~~ /) ( \(AA)/ ) (_ /AA\ _) /AA\ ^*^*^*^*^ Promises "We are going to know a new freedom and a new happiness. We will not regret the past nor wish to shut the door on it. We will comprehend the word serenity and we will know peace. No matter how far down the scale we have gone, we will see how our experience can benefit others. That feeling of uselessness and self-pity will disappear. We will lose interest in selfish things and gain interest in our fellows. Self-seeking will slip away. Our whole attitude and outlook upon life will change. Fear of people and of economic insecurity will leave us. We will intuitively know how to handle situations which used to baffle us. We will suddenly realize that God is doing for us what we could not do for ourselves. Are these extravagant promises? We think not. They are being fulfilled among us - sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly. They will always materialize if we work for them." c. 1976 AAWS, Alcoholics Anonymous, pp. 83-4 Thought to Consider . . . The Promises are a result not a right. *~*AACRONYMS*~* F I T Faith, Intuition, and Trust |

Doing the right things for
the right reasons—this is my
way of controlling my
selfishness and self-centeredness. I
realize that my dependency
on a higher Power clears the
way for peace of mind,
happiness and sobriety. I pray each
day that I will avoid my previous
actions, so that I will be
helpful o others.

The True Security
We can feel insecure for
many reasons, but the fundamental reason is that we do not have a firm
anchorage in our Higher Power. This anchorage must be our true
security, and it is really the only form that can survive any attack.
Regardless of who we are,
we can know and feel that our Higher Power is guiding and directing us at all
times. If we find ourselves being threatened by a person or situation, we can
deal with it by knowing that our Higher Power is in charge of all outcomes.
If we envy somebody, we must get back to an acknowledgment of God as the
source of everything.
If we feel inadequate
around people who seem to be immensely self-confident and secure, we should
not try to imitate their manner and behavior. Rather, we should simply put
our trust in our own Higher Power, and our feeling of true security will
express itself in proper ways.
All the things we view
today as being secure are probably only temporary.
Our ture security can come
only from God.
