Big Book Quote
“Upon therapy for the alcoholic himself, we surely have no
monopoly. Yet is is our great hope that all those who have as yet found no
answer may begin to find one in the pages of this book and will presently
join us on the high road to a new freedom.”

Foreword
There is, too, a rising interest in the Twelve Traditions of Alcoholics Anonymous. Students of human relations are beginning to wonder how and why A.A. functions as a society. Why is it, they ask, that in A.A. no member can be set in personal authority over another, that nothing like a central government can anywhere be seen? How can a set of traditional principles, having no legal force at all, hold the Fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous in unity and effectiveness? The second section of this volume, though designed for A.A.'s membership, will give such inquirers an inside view of A.A. never before possible. p. 16 |

Twenty-Four Hours
A.A. Thought For The
Day
Sixth, I have A.A. meetings to go to, thank God.
Where would I go
without them?
Where would I be without them? Where would I find the sympathy,
the understanding, the
fellowship, the companionship?
Nowhere else in the
world. I have come home.
I have found the place
where I belong.
I no longer wander
alone over the face of the earth.
I am at peace and at rest. What a great gift
has been given me by A.A.!
I do not deserve it.
But it is nevertheless mine. I have a home at last. I am content.
Do I thank God
everyday for the A.A. Fellowship?
Meditation For The Day Walk all the way with another person and with God.
Do not go part of the
way and then stop.
Do not push God so far
into the background that He
has no effect on your
life. Walk all the way with Him.
Make a good companion
of God, by praying to Him often during the day.
Do not let your
contact with Him be broken for too long a period.
Work all the way with
God and with other people,
along the path of
life, wherever it may lead you.
Prayer For The Day I pray that I may walk in companionship with God along the way.
I pray that I may keep
my feet upon the path that leads upward.

Daily Thought
^*^*^*^*^
(\ ~~ /) ( \(AA)/ ) (_ /AA\ _) /AA\ ^*^*^*^*^ Single Purpose "We enjoy certain advantages which should make our task of self-restraint relatively easy. There is really no good reason for anyone to object if a great many drunks get sober. Nearly everyone can agree that this is a good thing. If, in the process, we are forced to develop a certain amount of honesty, humility, and tolerance, who is going to kick about that? If we recognize that religion is the province of the clergy and the practice of medicine is for doctors, we can helpfully cooperate with both. Certainly there is little basis for controversy in these areas. It is a fact that A.A. has not the slightest reform or political complexion. We try to pay our own expenses, and we strictly mind our single purpose." Bill. W. c.1962 AAWS Twelve Concepts for World Service, 26th printing, p. 69 Thought to Consider . . . While it isn't always easy, if I keep it simple, it works.

Daily Reflection
ONE ULTIMATE
AUTHORITY
For our group
purpose there is but one ultimate authority—
a loving God as He
may express Himself in our group
conscience.
TWELVE STEPS AND
TWELVE TRADITIONS, p. 132
When I am chosen to
carry some small responsibility for
my fellows, I ask
that God grant me the patience, openmindedness,
and willingness to
listen to those I would lead.
I must remind myself
that I am the trusted servant of others,
not their
"governor," "teacher," or "instructor." God
guides
my words and my actions,
and my responsibility is to heed
His suggestions.
Trust is my watchword, I trust others who
lead. In the
Fellowship of A.A., I entrust God with the
ultimate authority
of "running the show."

Pot Luck
How
To Act Like You’re Still Using
1. Never miss a chance to take yourself seriously.
2. Cherish your resentments.
3. Treat your partner as a sex object.
4. Treat your children and your friends as extensions of your
ego.
5. Reserve deep affection for your pet or your car or someone
who lives far away.
6. Isolate rather than engage, quit rather than negotiate.
7. Fantasize about the ultimate humiliation against everyone
whom you cherish a resentment.
8. Don’t do today what you can blame someone else for
not having done tomorrow.
9. Employ behind-the-scenes manipulation wherever
possible.
10. Feel sorry for yourself at least three times a day.
11. Be sure to point out other peoples’ faults and failures,
for their own good of course.
12. Accept no authority but your own.
