And perhaps even the smallest efforts matter more than you
know. "God will meet you where you are in order to take you where He wants you to go." ~Tony Evans “Talking about what bothers me helps it lose its power over
me.” “Together We Can,” Martinsville, West Virginia, January 1990,
Best of the Grapevine, Vol. 3 Every day we have opportunities to reconnect with God through an encounter with nature, whether an ordinary sunrise, a starling on a power
line, a tree in a park, or a cloud in the sky. This spirituality doesn’t depend on education or belief. It almost entirely
depends on our capacity for simple presence. We can begin to heal that rift between our love and actions, our values and our daily lives, by turning our attention to whatever patch of ground we have been given to tend, even if it is a potted planter on a balcony in the city. “I’m learning to be a mother, a friend, a grandmother, and a sister. My friends are a close-knit support group, and they’re as near as the telephone.” ~ Arlington, Texas, July 1994 |

BIG BOOK QUOTE Being all powerful, He provided what we needed, if we kept
close to Him and performed His work well. Established on such a footing we
became less and less interested in ourselves, our little plans and designs.
More and more we became interested in seeing what we could contribute to
life. P63 |

12&12 Foreword |

Twenty-Four Hours

Daily Thought ^*^*^*^*^ Faith People of faith have a logical idea of what life is all about.
Actually, we used to have no reasonable conception whatever. We used to amuse
ourselves by cynically dissecting spiritual beliefs and practices when we
might have observed that many spiritually-minded persons of all races, colors
and creeds were demonstrating a degree of stability, happiness and usefulness
which we should have sought ourselves.

DAILY
REFLECTIONS "ENTIRELY
HONEST" We must be
entirely honest with somebody if we expect to live long
or happily in this world. ALCOHOLICS
ANONYMOUS, p. 73-74 Honesty, like
all virtues, is to be shared. It began after I shared
". . . [my] whole life's story with someone . . . " in order to
find my place in the Fellowship. Later I shared my life in
order to help the newcomer find his place with us. This
sharing helps me to learn honesty in all my dealings and
to know that God's plan for me comes true through
honest openness and willingness. |

POT LUCK "When you get to your wit’s
end, you’ll find that God lives there." In
the past, whenever I got to a bottom, I just moved over and started digging
another hole. I would leave jobs, relationships, and even states looking for
a different solution. I didn’t have a God in my life, so there was no turning
it over. It wasn’t until I had broken my shovel and hit my final bottom that
I was ready to admit complete defeat.
