A life of significance does not look the same for every
person. Each is as individual as the person who lives it. They come in many shapes and sizes. However, there are some things that all people who achieve significance have in common: They strive for excellence.
They do the small things well. They care about others.
They constantly improve themselves. They give it their
all. -John Maxwell The best way to be more free is to grant more
freedom to others. -Carlo Dossi Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make
mistakes. ~Mohandas Gandhi You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be
defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it. |

BIG
BOOK QUOTE Much
has already been said about receiving strength, inspiration, and direction
from Him who has all knowledge and power. If we have carefully followed
directions, we have begun to sense the flow of His Spirit into us. P85 |

DAILY
REFLECTIONS A.A. IS
NOT A CURE-ALL It would
be a product of false pride to claim that A. A. is a cure-all,
even for alcoholism AS BILL SEES
IT, p. 285 In my early
years of sobriety I was full of pride, thinking that A. A.
was the only source of treatment for a good and happy life.
It certainly was the basic ingredient for my sobriety and
even today, with over twelve years in the program, I am
very involved in meetings, sponsorship and service.
During the first four years of my recovery, I found it necessary
to seek professional help, since my emotional health was
extremely poor. There are those folks too, who have found
sobriety and happiness in other organizations. A.A. taught
me that I had a choice: to go to any lengths to enhance my
sobriety. A.A. may not be a cure-all for everything,
but it is the center of my sober living. |

POT LUCK Do not cut down the
tree that gives you shade.
~Middle Eastern proverb We need to remember what got us
well. The Twelve Steps heal us. The meetings we attend heal us. Reading and
listening to program literature heal us. Talking with our sponsor heals us.
The time we spend with program friends heals us. Sometimes we're pressed for time. As a result, we have to make
choices about how to use our time. We may think we know enough about the
program. We may feel like cutting down on meetings. These are danger signs.
We only know how to stay sober one day at a time: by working the Steps. Let's
not forget them as we grow in this program. It may seem like we've been
recovering a long time, but we're all beginners. Prayer for the Day
Higher Power, I've found You in the program. Help me find ways
to stay a "beginner" in the program. Action for the Day
Today I'll take time to read the Twelve Steps. I'll meditate
on how much these Steps have given me. Keep it Simple: Daily Meditations for Twelve Step Beginnings
and Renewal* |
