"I am no bird; and no net ensnares me: I am a free human being with an independent will." ~Charlotte Brontë Life is mostly froth and bubble; Two things stand like stone: Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own. The tapestry of life continues to be woven. Occasionally a chance arises to repair an older, tattered
piece of the weave. Something happens to jolt our awareness back in
time to an event that resulted in tears and rips. With new, more mature vision, we see the circumstances in
present time and have compassion for the unclear events of the past. While the new experience is being woven into the design, the old rip is simultaneously being repaired. All is well. -Bessie Senette "This is the very perfection of man, to find out his own imperfections." ~Saint Augustine If You'd Like To

DAILY
REFLECTIONS I'M
NOT DIFFERENT In
the beginning, it was four whole years before A. A. brought
permanent sobriety to even one alcoholic woman. Like
the "high bottoms," the women said they were different;
. . . The Skid-Rower said he was different . . . so did
the artists and the professional people, the rich, the poor,
the religious, the agnostic, the Indians and the Eskimos,
the veterans, and the prisoners . . . nowadays all of
these, and legions more, soberly talk about how very much
alike all of us alcoholics are when we admit that the chips
are finally down. AS
BILL SEES IT, p. 24 I
cannot consider myself "different" in A. A.; if I do I isolate
myself from others and from contact with my Higher
Power. If I feel isolated in A.A., it is not something for
which others are responsible. It is something I've created
by feeling I'm "different" in some way. Today I practice
being just another alcoholic in the worldwide Fellowship
of Alcoholics Anonymous. |

POT LUCK Brave Made
brave by the Spirit within, I meet the world with courage. Today
I will go within and gently inquire, How is fear stopping me from living the
life of my dreams? I do this without judgment or self-recrimination. Rather,
I regard myself with tenderness and compassion as I seek to welcome a fuller
experience of life. After
time in the Silence and prayer, I
deny fear has power over me. I affirm: I am brave, confident, and
deserving of a full life. Returning
to activity, I feel confidence and courage build within me. I
carry myself differently, ready to meet life, try new things, and not be daunted by uncertainty or fear of
failure or embarrassment. The
strength and power of God are mine. Carrying
this truth in my heart, I
know there is nothing to fear. I
am brave. |
