Just act better than you feel ~Polly P Tomorrow is only found in the calendar of Fools. ~Og Mandino "The most wasted of all days is one without
laughter." ~Nicolas Chamfort A man comes to your door and knocks, he says he is hungry. you give him a fish you have solved a temporary problem. a man comes and knocks at your door. He says he is hungry. You cut him a pole and take him by the hand to the stream and teach him to fish. You have saved his life. AA meetings are fishing schools. Where God teaches us how to fish for the souls of men and save their lives. ~thanks Jack B |

dark it is before the dawn! In reality that was the beginning of my last
debauch. I was soon to be catapulted into what I like to call the fourth

DAILY
REFLECTIONS UNITED
WE STAND We
learned that we had to fully concede to our innermost selves
that we were alcoholics. This is the first step in recovery.
The delusion that we are like other people, or presently
may be, has to be smashed. ALCOHOLICS
ANONYMOUS, p. 30 I came
to Alcoholics Anonymous because I was no longer able
to control my drinking. It was either my wife's complaining
about my drinking, or maybe the sheriff forced me to
go to A.A. meetings, or perhaps I knew, deep down inside,
that I couldn't drink like others, but I was unwilling to
admit it because the alternative terrified me. Alcoholics Anonymous
is a fellowship of men and women united against
a common, fatal disease. Each one of our lives is linked
to every other, much like the survivors on a life raft at
sea. If we all work together, we can get safely to shore. |

POT LUCK Touchstones Meditation For Men Life is not a spectacle or a
feast; it is a predicament. —George Santayana We could probably feel more
tranquil if the world were a simpler place and always gave us simple answers.
But we are faced with many ambiguous and uncertain situations. The changing
roles of men and women can often leave us bewildered. We are engaged in the
development of relationships that have lives of their own, and it’s not
always clear where they are headed. Even within ourselves we have
contradictory feelings, and it’s difficult to come up with clear answers. Since we cannot force
simplicity upon the world, we must turn to ourselves for a new response. We
can become more tolerant of our unsettled predicaments. We can learn to have
faith that good comes from change. Things have a way of settling out and
clarifying with time. As we develop patience with the questions and the
unclear issues in our lives, we gain a deeper serenity. Today, I will recall the
predicaments in my past life that, in time, became clearer, and I will have
patience with what seems unsettled. |
