“There are no guarantees in life. The simple twists of fate and the breaks of the game are the two maxims that define so much of the success and failure in life.” ~Bill Walton We all have purpose even if we're still striving t o understand what that is. Better to ask twice than lose your way
once. -Danish proverb There is no difficulty that enough love will not conquer, no
disease that enough love will not heal; no door that enough love will not
open; no gulf that enough love will not bridge; no wall that enough love will
not throw down; no sin that enough love will not redeem. . . . It makes
no difference how deeply seated may be the trouble; how hopeless the outlook;
how muddled the tangle; how great the mistake. A sufficient realization of love will
dissolve it all. If only you could
love enough you would be the happiest and most powerful being in the
world. -Emmet Fox |
Big Book
Quote We found that as soon as we were able to lay aside prejudice
and express even a willingness to believe in a Power greater than ourselves,
we commenced to get results, even though it was impossible for any of us to
fully define or comprehend that Power, which is God. P46 |

Reflection HELPING
OTHERS Our very
lives, as ex-problem drinkers, depend upon our constant
thought of others and how we may help meet their needs. ALCOHOLICS
ANONYMOUS, p. 20 Self-centeredness
was my problem. All my life people had been doing
things for me and I not only expected it, but I was
ungrateful and resentful they didn't do more. Why should I
help others, when they were supposed to help me? If others
had troubles, didn't they deserve them? I was filled with
self-pity, anger and resentment. Then I learned that by
helping others, with no thought of return, I could overcome
this obsession with selfishness, and if I understood
humility, I would know peace and serenity. No longer do I
need to drink. |
Pot Luck
Sobriety
Gift #3: Gratitude With
acceptance and humility comes a deep sense of gratitude. Sobriety shifts our
focus from what we lack to what we have. We begin to appreciate the love and
support of family and friends, the beauty in everyday moments, and the
abundance in our lives, both material and spiritual. This
gratitude can inspire us to help others, recognizing that our personal road
to recovery can offer hope to those still struggling. By appreciating what we
have, we find contentment and joy in life’s simple pleasures, stepping away
from the constant chase for more. Gratitude transforms our outlook, allowing
us to see challenges as opportunities for growth and to cherish the moments
of happiness and connection. It fosters a positive mindset that enhances our
overall well-being and strengthens our commitment to sobriety. |
