Patience strengthens the spirit,

sweetens the temper, stifles anger,

extinguishes envy, subdues pride,

bridles the tongue, restrains the hand,

and tramples upon temptation.
~George Horne

“We are losing all fear of those violent emotional storms

which sometimes cross our alcoholic world;

perhaps it bespeaks our confidence that every storm

will be followed by a calm; a calm which is more understanding,

more compassionate, more tolerant than any we ever knew before.”

~AA Co-Founder, Bill W., August 1946

Spread love everywhere you go.

Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier.
~Mother Teresa

“I have just three things to teach:

simplicity, patience, compassion.

These three are your greatest treasures. ”

—Lao Tzu

Big Book Quote

When we saw others solve their problems by a simple reliance upon the Spirit of the Universe, we had to stop doubting the power of God. Our ideas did not work. But the God idea did.

Foreword

With the publication of the book "Alcoholics Anonymous" in 1939, the pioneering period ended and a prodigious chain reaction set in as the recovered alcoholics carried their message to still others. In the next years alcoholics flocked to A.A. by tens of thousands, largely as the result of excellent and continuous publicity freely given by magazines and newspapers throughout the world. Clergymen and doctors alike rallied to the new movement, giving it unstinted support and endorsement.

Twenty-Four Hours

A.A. Thought For The Day

When I came into A.A., I found men and women who had been through
the same things I had been through. But now they were thinking more
about how they could help others than they were about themselves.
They were a lot more unselfish than I ever was. By coming to meetings
and associating with them, I began to think a little less about myself
and a little more about other people. I also learned that I didn't have
to depend on myself alone to get out of the mess I was in. I could get a
greater strength than my own. Am I now depending less on myself and
more on God?

Meditation For The Day

You cannot help others unless you understand the person you are
trying to help. To understand the problems and temptations of others,
you must have been through them yourself. You must do all you can to
understand others. You must study their backgrounds, their likes and
dislikes, their reactions and their prejudices. When you see their
weaknesses, do not confront the person with them. Share your own
weaknesses, sins, and temptations and let other people find their own
convictions.

Prayer For The Day

I pray that I may serve as a channel for God's power to come into the
lives of others. I pray that I may try to understand them.

Housecleaning

If we skip this vital step [Step Five], we may not overcome drinking. Time after time newcomers have tried to keep to themselves certain facts about their lives. Trying to avoid this humbling experience, they have turned to easier methods. Almost invariably they got drunk. Having persevered with the rest of the program, they wondered why they fell. We think the reason is that they never completed their housecleaning.

Daily Reflection

CRYING FOR THE MOON

"This very real feeling of inferiority is magnified by his

childish sensitivity and it is this state of affairs which

generates in him that insatiable, abnormal craving for selfapproval

and success in the eyes of the world. Still a child,

he cries for the moon. And the moon, it seems, won't have

him!"

LANGUAGE OF THE HEART, p. 102

While drinking I seemed to vacillate between feeling totally

invisible and believing I was the center of the universe.

Searching for that elusive balance between the two has

become a major part of my recovery. The moon I constantly

cried for is, in sobriety, rarely full; it shows me instead its

many other phases, and there are lessons in them all. True

learning has often followed an eclipse, a time of darkness,

but with each cycle of my recovery, the light grows stronger

and my vision is clearer.

In moments of openness, we discover that the connections we crave are always waiting for us.

Loneliness is something we all feel sometimes. But it’s not merely about being alone; it’s also about feeling like we don’t quite fit or that no one understands us. Sometimes, we build walls around our hearts or disconnect from others in an attempt to protect ourselves from potential hurt or rejection. These walls might keep us safe for a little while, but they also keep us from the warmth of real connection.

Healing from loneliness starts with allowing ourselves to be seen, just as we are. You don’t need to suppress who you really are to be loved and appreciated. In fact, true connection happens when we shed the armor we’ve built and allow ourselves to be human. When we open up and show the world our true selves — vulnerable and imperfect — we invite the kind of closeness and friendship that nurtures our hearts.

It’s amazing how much our lives can transform when we stop hiding and start showing up fully — when we take the risk to connect, even when it feels scary. Through practices that nurture our emotional well-being, like meditation, mindfulness, and self-compassion, we can start to dissolve the walls we’ve built. And it’s in these moments of openness that we discover the connections we crave are always waiting for us, just beyond our self-imposed walls.
