"The world is going
through a period of crisis,
but whether we look at it
as a crisis
or as an opportunity to
reshape our thinking,
depends on us.
So use this period as a
lesson on how to live life
with a concern for all of
humankind."
~ Abhijit Naskar
“Happiness is not a
destination or an experience.
It's a decision.”
― Carlos Santana
I seldom end up where I
wanted to go,
but almost always end up
where I need to be.
~Douglas Adams
“Resilience is accepting
your new reality, even if it’s less good than the one you had before. You can
fight it, you can do nothing but scream about what you’ve lost, or you can
accept that and try to put together something that’s good.” — Elizabeth
Edwards
“The other Steps can keep
most of us sober and somehow functioning. But Step Eleven can keep us
growing, if we try hard and work at it continually.”

Step Ten - "Continued to take
personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it."
When evening comes, perhaps just before going to sleep, many of us draw up a balance sheet for the day. This is a good place to remember that inventory-taking is not always done in red ink. It's a poor day indeed when we haven't done something right. As a matter of fact, the waking hours are usually well filled with things that are constructive. Good intentions, good thoughts, and good acts are there for us to see. Even when we have tried hard and failed, we may chalk that up as one of the greatest credits of all. Under these conditions, the pains of failure are converted into assets. Out of them we receive the stimulation we need to go forward. Someone who knew what he was talking about once remarked that pain was the touchstone of all spiritual progress. How heartily we A.A.'s can agree with him, for we know that the pains of drinking had to come before sobriety, and emotional turmoil before serenity. pp. 93-94 |

Twenty-Four Hours
A.A. Thought For The
Day
We're so glad to be free from liquor that we do something about it. We get into action. We come to meetings regularly. We go out and try to help other alcoholics. We pass on the good news whenever we get a chance. In a spirit of thankfulness to God, we get into action. The A.A. program is simple. Submit yourself to God, find release from liquor, and get into action. Do these things and keep doing them and you're all set for the rest of your life. Have I got into action? Meditation For The Day God's eternal quest must be the tracking down of souls. You should join Him in His quest. Through briars, through waste places, through glades, up mountain heights, down into valleys. God leads you. But ever with His leadership goes your helping hand. Glorious to follow where the Leader goes. You are seeking lost sheep. You are bringing the good news into places where it has not been known before. You may not know which soul you will help, but you can leave all results to God. just go with Him in His eternal quest for souls. Prayer For The Day I pray that I may follow God in His eternal quest for souls. I pray that I may offer God my helping hand. |

Daily Thought
^*^*^*^*^ (\ ~~ /) ( \(AA)/ ) (_ /AA\ _) /AA\ ^*^*^*^*^ Progress "We claim spiritual progress rather than spiritual perfection. Our description of the alcoholic, the chapter to the agnostic, and our personal adventures before and after make clear three pertinent ideas: (a) That we were alcoholic and could not manage our own lives. (b) That probably no human power could have relieved our alcoholism. (c) That God could and would if He were sought." Alcoholics Anonymous, p. 60 Thought to Consider . . . Every recovery from alcoholism began with one sober hour. *~*AACRONYMS*~* B I G B O O K Believing In God Beats Our Old Knowledge |

Daily Reflection
TWO "MAGNIFICENT
STANDARDS"
All A.A. progress can be
reckoned in terms of just two
words: humility and
responsibility. Our whole spiritual
development can be accurately
measured by our degree of
adherence to these
magnificent standards.
AS BILL SEES IT, p. 271
To acknowledge and respect
the views, accomplishments
and prerogatives of others
and to accept being wrong shows
me the way of humility. To
practice the principles of A.A.
in all my affairs guides me
to be responsible. Honoring
these precepts gives
credence to Tradition Four—and to all
other Traditions of the
Fellowship. Alcoholics Anonymous
has evolved a philosophy of
life full of valid motivations,
rich in highly relevant
principles and ethical values, a view
of life which can be
extended beyond the confines of the
alcoholic population. To
honor these precepts I need only
to pray, and care for my
fellow man as if each one were my
brother.

Pot Luck
Life is painting a picture, not doing a sum.
~Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr.
As we go about our
activities, we will have a richer day when we think of ourselves as painting
a picture instead of keeping score. Rather than woodenly completing a task,
we might approach it as something that can be made interesting. Instead of
driving to work or riding the bus only to reach our destination, we might
think of this routine as part of the picture we paint today. When a friend
makes a comment, we might think of it as another brush stroke in our painting
and join in with him, rather than making a game or contest, which we must try
to win.
Many of us men were taught
that success means having the highest score. So we have become compulsively competitive—always
trying to be right, always striving for more financial security, or always
pushing ourselves for some new achievement. Success may not be coming out on
top. When our lives are lived as rich and interesting pictures, we find our
rewards are far deeper and more lasting.
May the picture I paint
today be one I will carry with me and appreciate.
