May today there be peace
within.
May you trust your Highest
Power that you are exactly where you are
meant to be.
May you not forget the
infinite possibilities that are born of faith.
May you use those gifts
that you have received, and pass on the love
that has been given to you.
May you be content knowing
you are a child of God.
Let this presence settle
into your bones, and allow your soul the
freedom to sing, dance, and
to bask in the sun.
--unknown
You're not making things so,
You're discovering that
they are so.
~Mooji
"Hope begins in the
dark,
the stubborn hope that if
you just show up
and try to do the right thing, the dawn will come.
You wait and watch and work:
You don't give up."
--Anne Lamott
“Dr. Silkworth taught us
how to till the black soil of hopelessness,
out of which every single
spiritual awakening in our fellowship has since flowered.
In December 1934 this man
of science had sat humbly by my bed
following my own sudden and
overwhelming spiritual experience, reassuring me:
‘No, Bill,’ he had said,
‘you are not hallucinating.
Whatever you have got, you
had better hang on to;
it is so much better than what you had only
an hour ago.’”

Big Book Quote
"Having made our
personal inventory, what shall we do about it? We
have been trying to get a new attitude, a new relationship with our Creator, and to discover the obstacles in our path. We have admitted certain defects; we have ascertained in a rough way what the trouble is; we have put our finger on the weak items in our personal inventory. Now these are about to be cast out. This requires action on our part, which, when completed, will mean that we have admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being, the exact nature of our defects. This brings us to the Fifth Step in the program of recovery mentioned in the preceding chapter." ~Alcoholics Anonymous, 4th Edition, Into Action, pg. 72~ |

12&12
Step Four - "Made a searching and fearless moral inventory
of ourselves."
At this stage of the inventory proceedings, our sponsors come to the rescue. They can do this, for they are the carriers of A.A.'s tested experience with Step Four. They comfort the melancholy one by first showing him that his case is not strange or different, that his character defects are probably not more numerous or worse than those of anyone else in A.A. This the sponsor promptly proves by talking freely and easily, and without exhibitionism, about his own defects, past and present. This calm, yet realistic, stocktaking is immensely reassuring. The sponsor probably points out that the newcomer has some assets which can be noted along with his liabilities. This tends to clear away morbidity and encourage balance. As soon as he begins to be more objective, the newcomer can fearlessly, rather than fearfully, look at his own defects. p. 46 |

Twenty-Four Hours
A.A. Thought For The Day
Participating in the privileges of the movement, I shall share in the responsibilities, taking it upon myself to carry my fair share of the load, not grudgingly but joyfully. I am deeply grateful for the privileges I enjoy because of my membership in this great movement. They put an obligation upon me which I will not shirk. I will gladly carry my fair share of the burdens. Because of the joy of doing them, they will no longer be burdens, but opportunities. Will I accept every opportunity gladly? Meditation For The Day Work and prayer are the two forces which are gradually making a better world. We must work for the betterment of ourselves and our fellow men. Faith without works is dead. But all work with people should be based on prayer. If we say a little prayer before we speak or try to help, it will make us more effective. Prayer is the force behind the work. Prayer is based on faith that God is working with us and through us. We can believe that nothing is impossible in human relationships, if we depend on the help of God. Prayer For The Day I pray that my life may be balanced between prayer and work. I pray that I may not work without prayer or pray without work. |

^*^*^*^*^ (\ ~~ /) ( \(AA)/ ) (_ /AA\ _) /AA\ ^*^*^*^*^ Show Business "The first requirement is that we be convinced that any life run on self-will can hardly be a success. On that basis we are almost always in collision with something or somebody, even though our motives are good. Most people try to live by self-propulsion. Each person is like an actor who wants to run the whole show; is forever trying to arrange the lights, the ballet, the scenery and the rest of the players in his own way. If his arrangements would only stay put, if only people would do as he wished, the show would be great. Everybody, including himself, would be pleased. Life would be wonderful." c. 2001 AAWS, Alcoholics Anonymous, pp. 60-61 Thought to Consider . . . I can't do His will my way. *~*AACRONYMS*~* H O P E Help Open People's Eyes |

Daily Reflection
THE JOY OF LIVING
. . . therefore the joy of
good living is the theme of A.A.'s
Twelfth Step.
TWELVE STEPS AND TWELVE
TRADITIONS, p. 125
A.A. is a joyful
program! Even so, I occasionally balk at
taking the necessary steps
to move ahead, and find myself
resisting the very actions
that could bring about the joy I
want. I would not resist if
those actions did not touch some
vulnerable area of my life,
an area that needs hope and
fulfillment. Repeated
exposure to joyfulness has a way of
softening the hard, outer
edges of my ego. Therein lies the
power of joyfulness to help all members of A.A

Pot Luck
Here are ten things that
can make you happy immediately,
regardless of where you are
in the cycle.
1. Life It's easy to forget that the mere fact of conscious existence--that you are alive--is itself a miracle. As the old saying goes "every day above ground is a good day." 2. Health Rather than thinking of illness as something bad that happens to you, start thinking of health as something good that's happening to you. 3. Purpose There is nothing more conducive to long-term happiness than knowing that your actions are making the world a better place. 4. Friendship Almost everyone has friends, although it's easy to lose track of them in the rush of events. Take a few minutes--today--to reconnect with some of them. 5. Family If you've got a good relationship with your family, rejoice! You're experiencing one of the deepest sources of happiness on the planet. 6. Self-reliance Feeling secure that you can count on yourself to accomplish what you set out to accomplish creates a quiet but potent happiness. 7. Community Having the support of a wider group makes you more aware that you're part of something greater than yourself. 8. Gratitude Rather than focusing on what you don't have or what's out of reach, be thankful for the wonderful things already in your life. 9. Laughter It is impossible to laugh and be miserable at the same time. Regular doses of laughter are more than medicine... it's the flavor of life. 10. Love 'Nuff said. Create these ten things in your life and I guarantee that you'll either become better off or, if not, you won't really care anyway because you'll already have what's important.
