"March on. Do not
tarry.
To go forward is to move
toward perfection.
March on, and fear not the
thorns,
or the sharp stones on
life's path."
~Khalil Gibran
“People choose to live in
their own hells all the time.
We do it every time we
isolate ourselves,
give the cold shoulder to
someone who has slighted us,
every time we hide knives
in our words,
every time we harden our
hearts in defiance
of what we know to be
the loving, good, and right
thing to do.”
~Rob Bell: “Love Wins”
There is no greatness without
kindness.
No happiness without
goodness.
No Godliness without faith.
May you be blessed to be
kind and good
and to stand in faith with
your God.
~Prayables
Here are 17
words that will never fail you:
Prepare. Care. Believe.
Forgive. Change. Risk. Choose.
Relax. Listen. Pray.
Persist. Smile. Focus. Act. Trust. Accept.Wait.
May God bless you with a
life vocabulary of purpose and good intentions.

Step Two -
"Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to
sanity."
"As psychiatrists have often observed, defiance is the outstanding characteristic of many an alcoholic. So it's not strange that lots of us have had our day at defying God Himself. Sometimes it's because God has not delivered us the good things of life which we specified, as a greedy child makes an impossible list for Santa Claus. More often, though, we had met up with some major calamity, and to our way of thinking lost out because God deserted us. The girl we wanted to marry had other notions; we prayed God that she'd change her mind, but she didn't. We prayed for healthy children, and were presented with sick ones, or none at all. We prayed for promotions at business, and none came. Loved ones, upon whom we heartily depended, were taken from us by so-called acts of God. Then we became drunkards, and asked God to stop that. But nothing happened. This was the unkindest cut of all. `Damn this faith business!' we said. p. 31 |

Twenty-Four Hours
A.A. Thought For The
Day
The way of A.A. is the way of sobriety, fellowship, service and faith. Let us take up each one of these things and see if our feet are truly on the way. The first and greatest to us is sobriety. The others are built on sobriety as a foundation. We could not have the others if we did not have sobriety. We all come to A.A. to get sober, and we stay to help others get sober. We are looking for sobriety first, last and all the time. We cannot build any kind of decent life unless we stay sober. Am I on the A.A. way? Meditation For The Day To truly desire to do God's will, therein lies happiness for a human being. We start out wanting our own way. We want our wills to be satisfied. We take and we do not give. Gradually we find that we are not happy when we are selfish, so we begin to make allowances for other peoples' wills. But this again does not give us full happiness, and we begin to see that the only way to be truly happy is to try to do God's will. In these times of meditation, we seek to get guidance so that we can find God's will for us. Prayer For The Day I pray that I may subordinate my will to the will of God. I pray that I may be guided today to find His will for me. |

(\ ~~ /) ( \(AA)/ ) (_ /AA\ _) /AA\ ^*^*^*^*^ Growth "It seems to me that the primary object of any human being is to grow, as God intended, that being the nature of all growing things. Our search must be for what reality we can find, which includes the best definition and feeling of love that we can acquire. If the capability of loving is in the human being, then it must surely be in his Creator. Theology helps me in that many of its concepts cause me to believe that I live in a rational universe under a loving God, and that my own irrationality can be chipped away, little by little. This is, I suppose, the process of growth for which we are intended." Bill W., Letter, 1958 c. 1967 AAWS, As Bill Sees It, p. 295 Thought to Consider . . .
All you
have to do to change your life is change your mind.

Daily Reflection
THE PERILS OF THE LIMELIGHT
In the beginning, the press could not understand our
refusal of all personal publicity. They were genuinely
baffled by our insistence upon anonymity. Then they got the
point. Here was something rare in the world —a society
which said it wished to publicize its principles and its work,
but not its individual members. The press was delighted
with this attitude. Ever since, these friends have reported
A.A. with an enthusiasm which the most ardent members
would find hard to match.
TWELVE STEPS AND TWELVE TRADITIONS, p. 182
It is essential for my personal survival and that of the
Fellowship that I not use A.A. to put myself in the
limelight. Anonymity is a way for me to work on my
humility. Since pride is one of my most dangerous
shortcomings, practicing humility is one of the best ways to
overcome it. The Fellowship of A.A. gains worldwide
recognition by its various methods of publicizing its
principles and its work, not by its individual members
advertising themselves. The attraction created by my
changing attitudes and my altruism contributes much more
to the welfare of A.A. than self-promotion.

Pot Luck
"I’m really grateful to
be here."
When I finally hit bottom and
surrendered, I didn’t think my life could get lower. But then I started
attending A.A. meetings. Here was a group of people who had nothing better to
do on a Friday or Saturday night than to sit in a room and talk about “the
good old days.” And they talked about, of all things, God, and making amends,
and their feelings—lots of feelings! I was pretty sure my life was over for
good.
I resisted and rebelled for a long time, but I worked the Steps and kept coming back. I still didn’t agree or understand when someone began sharing by identifying as a “grateful alcoholic.” Grateful for what? I’d think. But subtly and powerfully, I began to change. I became more humble as I recognized my part in things, more grateful when I realized how fortunate I had been, and more hopeful because of the new life I’d been given. Soon, I even looked forward to going to meetings. Years down the road of recovery, I live from a place of sustained gratitude. My life today is nothing like the hopeless, resentful state it once was. Today, I have a purpose and a new freedom I never had before. I’m immensely comfortable in my own skin—an incredible gift for an alcoholic like me. I’m not only grateful for all I do have in my life, I’m grateful I still have a life—something alcoholism nearly stole from me. Today, I can honestly say, I’m really grateful to be here. |
